Yes, I do. This level of "scratching" adds anywhere from 20% to 75% to the costs of the guns. Many top engravers have several years backlog that will add to the delivery time of the firearm.
Most people cannot tell good engraving from mediocre. When animals are included it is easy. You should be able to tell sex and specie exactly. By that I mean that it not only looks like a duck, you can tell it is a Lessor Scaup female duck. Of course some animals have no distinguishing coloration or pattern between the sexes. Woodcock all look the same until you peek under the feathers!
The very best engravers can easily reproduce the individual personality of the subject in metal. That means you will be able to recognize your Black Lab from any other Black Lab.
BTW, these guns are built and used in the field by most of their owners. They are custom fitted and balanced for that individual.
