Porsche 914 2.0L 4cyl Valve guides
Working on a 1974 Porsche 914 with the 2.0L 4cyl engine. Engine was reportedly rebuilt with oversize pistons, rings etc., still getting a lot of white smoke with approx. 20 miles of run time. Rechecked rings all were ok not cracked. On other engines usually the smoke possibly points towards bad rubber valve guides but on this engine the valve guides are obviously round bullet like shape with no rubber grommets/seals!!! I've been told that if the engine has the older valve guides still in it that they could possibly be out of round/shape causing an excess of oil leakage causing the same effect...any comments..thanks
