I know that Mercedes has offered factory armored cars for years, but couldn't find much detail about the levels of armoring offered as an option on cars in the early 1990s. (I just did some online searching.)

Does anyone have a quick break-down of the levels of armoring offered in the 1990s? Along with some of the details, like materials used, to achieve those levels?

I can find information on the later model armoring, so I don't need that, but would appreciate any insight/info on the earlier cars.
