To add to what Randy said you also need to understand the ventilation levers on the dash. The top row will have one or two levers depending on year. If two levers the left one moving left to right lets in outside air. The right one left to right turns on the fan and adjusts speed. If one lever then as you move left to right lets in outside air and turns on fan.
Middle row. You should have a lever with a black handle. Left side will have a triangle pointing down. Right side pointing up. This lever only controls where the outside air is directed. Feet or defrost.
Lower row. You should have a lever with a red handle. Same deal as the middle except it controls where heated air goes. Up or down.
The lever or levers on the floor between the seats control how much heated air comes into the cabin. All the way down equals zero heat. All the way up is maximum heat.
