I've only seen a couple of these. It certainly helps with the snoring. With lasers now (and electrosurgery) the bleeding is usually more controlled. The trick as I see it is to remove enough of the posterior soft palate to make it more difficult for your tongue to seal off your airway, but not so much that your beer comes out your nose every time you take a swig! Roto-rooting your nose will hopefully allow you to sleep with your mouth closed. You are going to have the mother of all sore throats (you will not be swallowing pills for at least a week).
