Absolutely--don't think it was fluke--but a very good night for the Beavers--and the match-ups were good. --while OSU (or is it OS nowadays?) has lost some games it might should have won-- it has for the most part beaten the Washington schools etc. as badly as USC (and other good schools have) did--so there is no doubt the program is competitive.
is USC a better team? Yes--but that night the Beavers played as well (especially defensively until the last few minutes) as anyone. If you want to be number one--you have to show and be number one every game. USC was beaten on the ground (especially), in the air, and were largely stifled defensively.
I did not go to Oregon State--some of my family members graduated from there--but what an atmosphere! We may may this an outing once a season-- and no, we don't expect games like that on every go-round
