Dude, you must have a lot of money laying around. I wouldn't build it from the ground up unless you were going to get real deep into a rally club or some kind of racing.
I would just get a descent, cheap SC and start from there. Suspension, tires, lights and then a roof rack to throw all your camping gear on top. Maybe a Martini paint job if you pick up a white one.
I had a VW baja bug when I was younger and thing was a goat. I would sink that thing in mud during the rainy season; if you could move it an inch either way you were not stuck. A porsche 911 is going to rock...
