My 2 cents,
an '81 RoW SC has one of the best 3.0liter engine Porsche ever used, the 930/10 specs; 204hp@5900 189ft-lbs@4300 and depending on options pretty light for an SC

You need to drive it to 1)see if it's up to spec 2) see how you like whats' there 3) see how you want to change it for your use.

I don't like the idea of changing from a n/b to a w/b it's never done right because it is extremely expensive to do so. If you want a w/b you really need to start w/ one.

I also don't like the idea of backdating across the '73/'74 MY change, it's more reasonable than the n/b to w/b change but it's still not right.

You have a very nice mid year w/ RS/Carrera flares, chose an icon from that period. You have several choices some shown above.
1) SC/CS
2) Ruf
3) n/b IROC
4) n/b SC/RS
