Yes it does.
I remember once, years ago, contemplating that old koan for hours on end while standing barefoot in cold drizzling rain, alone on the bank of a remote mountain river, stepping with one foot, in and out of its icy rushing water with metronome-like regularity, ultimately coming into a state of enlightenment wherein a blinding stroke of lightening rent the blackness of the night and thunder clapped my ears, booming the words into them, "You can't step in the same river, even once!"
