"collective intelligence" sounds like an oxymoron to me!
If we can have the above then I suppose we can have "collective ignorance" as well. People will believe what they want to believe, so much of what is on the internet is rubbish anyway. Most are not smart enough to look for the actual truth in what they read. They are just believers not seekers of actual knowledge.
