Steve and I went and saw it yesterday. Greatly enjoyed it. I didn't think it was as engaging as Casino Royale. But then again, Casino Royale is absolutely my favorite Bond movie period.
Some improvements were needed in the actual screen writing. The hotel in the desert used a hydrogen based power system. They didn't really go into detail as to why it has such an interesting system nor the downfalls of it. Just all of a sudden, hydrogen stuff starts doing the Hindenberg. A little detail in that area would have let the viewers understand the pitfalls of a hydrogen based system. Someone in the theater actually asked out loud - why does it keep blowing up? Umm...okay...perhaps not everyone is familiar with the highly flammable nature of hydrogen.
They also did not release the water in the under ground dam to return drinking water for the villagers. Would have been a nice touch. Besides, blowing stuff up is fun!
As far as Daniel Craig goes - he and Sean Connery are the James Bonds for me. Connery was sexy, elegant and articulate. Craig, sexy, nearly wolf-like in his ferocity (this guy chasing you - be afraid - very afraid!) and with incredible athleticism. The athleticism is a point sorely missed by most actors who have played Bond. Other than Craig, most of them don't look physically able enough to be successful at co-ed softball.
