Help!-can't tell if car won't start b/c of Alarm or Dead Battery

i went out to my car today after studying at a friend's apartment. when i went out to the car, i pulled the headlights before starting the car (something i don't normally do but i guess my brain was fried from all the schoolwork). when i went to turn the key, there was nothing. no starter motor trying to turn or anything like that.
i initially thought that it was my clifford alarm in some crazy anti-carjacking mode. i called my dad who navigated the clifford site with me and attempted to help me enter the program mode and attempt to turn it off. i did everything that the manual said and the car still won't turn over (or even really try to).
the interior lights, dash lights and exterior lights all would illuminate. the other weird thing was that the stereo kept on reseting its clock to 12:00 AM. is this a clue that it is actually the battery?

is the battery so wasted that i can't turn the starter at all?

thanks for all responses,
david benett
