Many years ago, I hit a black bear on a mountain road. It was a dark, moonless, drizzly night; so visibility was really bad. The car was an old Celica. The bear bolted from the shoulder of the road. We were going about 40 or so and clipped the bear in its hind quarter. Almost stopped the car dead. Upon impact, the water off the bear's fur covered the windshield. The bear spun and it ran off into the woods. No idea if/how bad it was hurt. About 100 yards up the road, a guy was hitchhiking and saw what had happened. We got him into the car in case the bear came looking for vengeance. It was a very wierd experience....
