JP, I decided on the Toyo T1R because of the great testimonials I had heard, and the fact that my car is now only street-driven and I want a tire that gives good performance but lasts a while.
The R1R looks very aggressive and I considered that one too, but like with most DOT-R compounds you kind of have to get them hot before they exhibit maximum grip. If they had a better treadwear rating I might well have gotten those.
As far as noise, I'm not certain as I have no direct experience with any of their race tires, but I've never heard anything but positive comments about all the Toyo tires.
