Greetings again, Paulie from Atlanta here. In response to requests for more pics of my 71' Opel GT I have finally gotten off my butt and put together a little montage. Hopefully within the next few weeks the final product shall be unveiled.
Pic 1 is when the car arrived at the place I was going to have the major engine and tranny swap done. This would be an turbocharged engine from a 88 Ford Thunderbird, the 4 banger with a turbocharger.
Pic 2 is of the new engine. You can see the intercooler mounted on top there. This engine had the issue of being too high for the standard hood. I had to live with the hood resting on the engine for awhile.
Pic 3 - obviously a new front mounted intercooler. It is much more efficient and now this car goes really fast, I will likely need to learn how to drive it all over again.
Pic 4 is the new(ish) interior. All of the carpeting is tan, and later I will be replacing that center tray to something a little more slick.
Pic 5, the new headliner. The guy did a pretty bang up job all around. I also had that B-Quiet stuff put all under the carpets and also under the headliner. It should drastically reduce noise in the cabin of the car.
Pic 6, the delivery of the car to the body and paint shop. Notice the raised hood to accommodate the larger engine. To be honest I like this more than the stock hood as I am one of those guys who likes his stuff symmetrical. Also of note are the new wheels from Ronal and the tires are Michelin PS2's
Pic 7, here we have a majority of the body work done. She really went for it too, lots of dings and dents and scrapes all taken care of.
Pic 8 is rear body work including that rear lip that needed some major repair.
Pic 9, that rear lip is pretty much done along with the rest of the car.
Primed and ready for the paint job!
There you go folks, I'll be posting new pics as soon as it is painted and put back together! Been 4 years in the making, I am rather anxious to have it completed
