I read it last Summer.
Its a good, but certainly not great book. The bar has been set so low re racing books, that Stein's thoughtful passages on driving stand out as being very good. I enjoyed those portions tremendously, and the dog-as-protaganist approach works better than it sounds.
The (a) niece/legal situation and (b) F1 connection were both, ummm,....implausible at best, however.
