Not everyone can afford a different car for each need- so they buy one vehicle that can do all of it. Paying a lot for gas is still cheaper than buying another vehicle.

Apples to orange comparisons (esp. when people take the joking ones seriously) just annoy the crap out of me. Why not have the M3 go through stop and go traffic?
Hybrid SUV vs regular SUV? As in, something that would actually produce usable data.
