When I was a young man, I was instructed how to defeat the speed limiter on the gas carts. Lift the seat, and there was a spring-loaded thingy that would stop the engine at a certain speed. Luckily for us young chaps, golf-tees worked perfectly for jamming this mechanism, thus allowing speed to be limited only by the engine's ability to not blow up due to over-revving. This was extremely entertaining. On a wet course, drifting was possible.
