Definitely get the volt meter. When we lived in the Bahamas, a golf cart was our only car. I got a higher speed motor (electric) and could easily outrun most of the gas carts on the island. A windshield is very important; get one that folds in half for those times you want the wind in your face.
Since the cart is electric, don't forget that the radio needs to be able to run on 48volts unless you get a dedicated battery just for the radio. A big wink mirror is nice. Lot's of on-line vendors for parts and accessories.
