I bought a '99 last July from the local BMW dealer. It had 45,000 miles but it looked and ran like a new bike. All services were up to date and it came with most records since new. I paid $5,400, which was somewhat high but I wanted the peace of mind that came with buying from a reputable dealer. Given the economy and the time of year, I think that the S that you're looking is a bit overpriced, maybe by $1,000.
