Ford can shake them all they want, I gave Ford 2 tries and their trucks were not dependable for me.
My Toyota's are retired when they hit 200K miles and in EVERY Toyota I have owned has never needed any major repairs nor has it broken down and stranded a crew.
The bonus is we only buy Tacoma's with 4 cyl engines and they all get 25 MPG or better and that is all city driving.
I guess we will keep from driving down river beds at 40 MPH and we will be fine.

Apples and organges - compare the Tacoma to the Ford Ranger instead...
Did you have any issues with the Tacoma's snapping in half? There is a service bulletin from Toyota about that...
