If you do your research, you could realize significant appreciation purchasing almost any desirable Porsche today. G50's that were commanding $28k+ are going for much less right now. There's a 94 C4 on the classifieds that the seller can't give away for $32k (IIRC); those were going for $36k+ a year ago.
However, the price of entry will be higher than $10-15k to reap a return in 5 years.
Keep in mind that a purchase of this type for investment is not like buying a commodity. You can't say 'if you can find a G50 for less than $18k, buy it' like you can with, say gold. It takes a lot of research to make the right buy.
Personally, if I had some money lying around, I'd be buying some of the aforementioned commodities or stocks since most are a bargain right now as well.
