Does you car have a hand throttle between the seats? It looks like the heater lever but is black and will be on the left side of the handbrake.

Yes, it does have a hand throttle, and it did work.
The thermotime switch did have a wire hooked up to it, that it zip-tied onto the harness and (IIRC) went up to the CSV behind the intake boot.
