I agree.
I live in a college town, many of the college kids get puppies, you can see them walking them around. Then they have to move, or have mid-terms and the shelter gets flooded with the unwanted and untrained not yet year old dogs. It's a shame and a cycle which repeats every year. My own older sisters did this, but they ditched their wreck of dogs back on the home where I was. Guess who had to live with the all love and no discipline dogs?
Growing up, we always had a dog. The dogs were a good dogs because they had some structure (conditional love) and no outside training was needed. We took in several strays and made them our own, they acted bad at first but caught on after a while and learned what was expected of them.
I grew up cleaning up the mess bad dogs owners made, I have no soft spot for
negligence.
