It is probably in the brakes, but it could also be in the corner balance.
If one front wheel is not adjusted to the right height when compared the other front wheel, it can do funny things to the way the car handles under hard braking and acceleration. I would think that it would have to be drastically out of adjustment to make this much difference, but if nothing else shows up.......
