I have watched four of five of these now from the side of the road, and even ran the Porsche as a pace car in 2002, but have always wanted to participate properly.

Problem is, it's difficult to get a slot unless you have a seriously perfect eligible classic car, and even then, the competition is intense.

We (me and my co-pilot) were aiming for a very serious entry in 2010, but it now seems we have a shot at getting into the 2009 rally due to some cancellations—presumably related to the financial crisis.

There's a whole lot of paperwork that needs to be done between now and May 2009, and I wonder if anyone here has been through this?

Does anyone here know anything about FIVA vehicle certifications for example, and what is involved with this?

We've been a bit blind-sided by the possibility of getting into the 2009 run, and are now having to play catch-up.
