Easy there tiger. I am upset with GM too, but Hyundai??? I will ride my lawn tractor to work before I drive a Hyundai, or Kia. Just plain wrong for a car guy
Ummm, you obviously haven't driven a Hyundai. Or you have a pretty freakin' sweet lawn tractor.

My dad has a Sonata, current body style so probably two years old. 50k-ish miles and it's been flawless, build quality and materials are Toyota-esque, drives vanilla and boring like a appliance car should. The overall impression is of quality, which is not what I get from the average American car. I would buy it before a new Cobalt, Focus, or Neon, no question about it.

This is his second straight Sonata. Both have been totally trouble free. It replaces the POS Chrysler Sebring he previously had that went through a water pump and two head gaskets before 50k. At the same time my mother had a Dodge Stratus (same platform as Sebring) that also went through a head gasket before 50k. Not to mention a number of token repairs as well. It's noteworthy because he was previously a die-hard MOPAR man, growing up in Richard Petty's hometown with a father who specialized in tuning '60s Hemis. But years of Chrysler crap finally broke him down, and he will never buy another. My mother now drives a Toyota.

The American makers deserve their failure for pushing crap for the last 30 years. This "good for America" PR BS is deplorable and an insult to our intelligence. The same goes for the automaker bailout, it goes against everything our country stands for.
