Gunty,
Ha! Talk to a marine biologist did ya?; B (cough) S; some things never change 'eh.
The actual facts if you care to know, is that the Shuswap Lake is one of the cleanest, most natural, "
prestine" lakes in all of NORTH AMERICA. Approximately 1/3 of the entire lake is drained out and replenished each and every year!
Click Here: Annual Elevations for Shuswap Lake
On average the lake rises and falls a total of 10 feet from Spring to Fall. This means if you go to the lake in the Spring and stand at the waters edge; then place a six foot tall man on your shoulders, by mid-July you both will be fully covered in water.
Here is the International Environment Report for the Shuswap Lakes;
better tell your marine biologist buddies to go back to school!!!

The Shuswap Lakes contain over 1,000 miles of shoreline with a surface area greater than 6,000 square miles; now imagine a lake that size rising and falling over 10 feet in elevation...... that's alot of fresh water every year; year after year. Our lake is Prestine beyond approach and that's the way we're gonna keep it.
Maybe you better just stay put in the Kootnays afterall?
30 years ago; HA!!! My Great Grandfather pioneered this area in the late 1800's and my Grandparents grew up here. I spent all my summers here as a kid and now I live here, so yeah; it's kinda personal to me

You can drink our lake water right out of the lake! Most lake homes do, that's where you drive up to your water front home, park, walk inside and turn on the tap!
