I own a 74 914 1.8l. Wish it was a 2.0, but fun anyway. I really considered buying a 914-6 instead of the '87 3.2 that now sits next to the old 914, but my driving situation was one in that I needed a little more day to day reliability (or at least less maintenance - and easier access when that maint was required).
My 914 has traits which I like more and less than my 911, albeit it is a poor comparison as there is a 13 year difference between the two. Given the same power as my 911, I am not sure which I would like more.
