I had the edges of the fan blades taped off, and my powder-paint guy said the paint would only add about 2 mils to the fan housing, and there's no clearance problems at all. I'm very excited about that.
And YES, I have made provisions for not having paint on the surfaces the fan belt touches. No worries!
