.. or you could try the towel trick. Take the box, turn it on, wrap it in a heavy towel with a certain side down (whatever the bottom of the motherboard side is, down) and leave it on for a while. It overheats the chip and can help to resink the processor into the motherboard where the solder connections are crappy. That is the main cause of the RROD, bad solder connections that fail after time. Overheating the ***** can melt the chip back to the board.
