This is the first time in many, many years I haven't renewed (just because of finances). In normal times, the annual fee is well worth it just to not have to deal with the imbiciles (on both sides of the counter) at the DMV office.

I'm all for the AAA membership. But it's no utopia inside those doors, either. Getting my bike title transferred from out-of-state to California registration was a minor nightmare due to laziness and bureaucracy. Still, I'd rather take my chances at AAA, where the people realize they're supposed to be on my side, than the DMV.
