I think you should do it for sure. Make sure you use a good carburetor so you don't report running problems that are really due to carburetor and not the setup. Try and make the bolt pattern on your intake something where you could swap a couple of your carbs. I installed an O2 sensor bung in my tail pipe and I can check my mixture via that. You should do something like that and buy the sensor for it, its all real cheap an works perfectly for tuning.
