I did go to the Apple Store as well as to the Apple thingy at Best Buy.
I compared apples-to-apples
on the spec that I needed for a simple home desktop. The Apple people refused to haggle. The Dell people started throwing extra software and a Seagate external hard drive into the package.
I ended up with a Dell XPS-430 (I could have bought Vistro or whatever for less). It has an Intel 2 Quad processor with all the memory I'll ever need. It has Vista Premium and a Dell 24" flat screen. They threw in Office, security, an extended warranty, an upgraded speaker system, and a few other things that I didn't need.
The Apple Store said that they could not come close to matching this deal.
You lost me on the Lexus comparison. A Lexus is a boring and overpriced Toyota. Although the housewives in my neighborhood must love them, I wouldn't be caught dead in a Lexus dealer. What is this Hyundai thing?
