Depends on what they are using for region detection.

Primary place you see it is disc based media, DVD's mostly. It's done to reduce grrey market penetration.

Your CD/DVD drive control panel/utility will have a place to change region encoding BUT BIG WARNING HERE.

Region encoding can only be changed 5 (IIRC) times. Try it again and the device becomes permanently disabled.

If you do this set to region 0. Unlocked.

If it's utube and online stuff I'm going to assume they might be blocking you based on your IP addresses geography.

In that case you simply spoof your IP address. Use an anonymizer or Public DNS service.

There is a site in the US that I frequent. It's use is blocked from US geography so I switch to a German proxy and they think i'm coming from europe and the content is all available.

EDIT: Probably based on IP address, Canada and US are the same region, region 1.
