The new rears are almost the same size, the fronts are slightly larger than the old ones in diameter and width.
It sure dosn't look like they are even similar but they should fill out.

Sticky, sticky, sticky......
Expect all sorts of black goo buildup under your flares. A little natural undercoating wont hurt!
Those are basic slicks buddy. That is not tread. The (Klingon wing shaped) sipes that make up a sort-of rib are to keep the contact patch cool and allow deformation under load. It also allows temperature readings at different sections of the contact patch. It is a faux water groove (yeah right). Back in the CanAm days when cars had high power to weight ratios chunking and blistering was a big issue with completely smooth slicks so it was regged in that grooves were required. Goodyear and Firestone carried this practice over. The void ratio of the grooves is very low so they don't even come close to "rain / water channel territory". The lightning bolt sipes do the same thing and are also your wear indicators. The grooves also aid in self-cleaning effect (pebbles, debris). The first step in the groove is usually 1/32 of an inch. When the groove goes away time for the recycle bin.
