Well, I saw a neighbor today who told me I was wrong:
we have four police cars patrolling a 26-mile radius, which increases to six police cars after 4PM.
With protection like that, a person could be shot, robbed, set afire, then buried in their own back yard before a cop arrives to wonder WTF is going on...
It's really come down to protecting yourself and your own. But sure as the sun shines, you shoot, or even physically restrain one of these perps inside your own house or out in the back yard, and you might get arrested, but you most certainly will be sued by the perp or the perp's family.
