Many VP\CEO types make hundreds, if not thousands of dollars per hour. So is it more cost efficient to spend several hours on a business jet or an entire day on a commercial flight? Because let's face it, commercial travel isn't exactly time efficient. Not to mention being able to tailor flight time to busy schedules.

I know it's easy to think "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" when you see a business jet. But sometimes compared to the alternative, they're the more cost effective option.
I have a few questions:

What were they doing before the purchase of the aircraft? Flying commercial, or did they perhaps have (an) other aircraft for this purpose? Was this done for cost savings, or as an upgrade? And more importantly, is it possible to save $50 million up front and charter a business jet when necessary?
