Back when I lived in San Diego, I went to Ralphs and bought some chicken breasts. I opened them up and they were rotten, and still in Date. I took them back. They asked if I wanted to replace them? ARE YOU KIDDING?
I used to go to "Food 4 less" and Vons, but Vons only if I needed something quick. Costco and Sams Club when I had the time.
Here in Houston, mostly we shop at Kroger, which I think is corporately connected with Vons. We definitely shop Costco and Sams. I HATE shopping at Randalls, since the prices are 25% higher.
We have a local Whole Foods, called Central Market. I took my mother down there, to show her the place. OMG, the Ribeye were $25/lb!
Fiesta - La tienda por los latinos (my wording!), is actually very nice, lots of food you won't find elsewhere. And Phonetian, kinda like a Stumps/Barrons. Nice place, I even found Romanian wine!
