I have just begun the process of building the FFR kit mostly for the fun of it and perhaps make a few dollars (or at least break even) by selling it later. This will be a "low budget" build with a 306 (302 bored over) carb'd engine.

I had a Unique Cobra for 6 years and for most of that time I also had an '82 911SC. There is simply no comparison. They are two totally different animals.
My Cobra was a bare bones, nothing on there that didn't make it go faster car...no heater, no top, and no radio (like you could hear it anyway). The car handled adequately, but went like a scalded cat in a straight line.
The SC, on the other hand, was a comfy GT car that handled magnificently and had a heater, a CD player, and a top. It wasn't a rocket ship though.
The two complimented each other perfectly!
Just one other thought...please don't take this the wrong way, it's not a slam on FFR's, I've seen some flat out gorgeous FFR's, but I think you're being a touch delusional if you think you're going to come out ahead (or break even) on a Cobra replica, especially a "low budget build". Keep telling your wife that though.
