There is a coming dearth of Chinese women compared to men. The thread is plenty fun - but the reality is female infanticide and abortions of female babies driven by government one-child policies and cultural preferences is tragic.
In India too. More in certain areas, and among certain caste and economic groups. The numbers are even more skewered than China.
