I had one of the ones you're talking about - it came with my 83.
I ended up tossing it because it looked
weird - didn't really fit all that well and I couldn't get it to sit down on the dash.
I ended up getting a fabric cover instead - from CoverKing. I bought it straight from them, not through Pelican as it was cheaper by a few bucks buying it direct.

The cover fits well and looks pretty good (in comparison to all the cracks).
They have a bunch of different colors and it's about half the price of the other one.
Edit: I just looked and Pelican actually is cheaper now - Their cover (by CoverKing) is $25 vs. $36 through CoverKing.
