Beware of the reproductions! I spent all of Saturday and missed the SD Porsche Get-Together by trying to install a brand new repro gas tank that was a POS.

When I found out that I could get a repro tank for about $300, I said "great" -- now I can elimate the tank as a source of problems in the future. What a piece of junk! The tank didn't fit in the chassis right, the filler tube was not aligned correctly, and then after putting the %&^# thing in the car, IT LEAKED! The weld at one of the fittings was not properly done and was dripping fuel from the weld. I had to put the old one back in the car and am shipping the repro back to the supplier (who will remain nameless for the moment) with a demand for a refund.

Take your old tank out (not that big of a job, I did it 20 times on Saturday!) and take it to a radiator shop who will boil it out and seal it for you. At least you know it will fit in the car when it is done and won't leak!
