Kach, it looks like an illusion in the photo, as it is a smooth cowling all the way back. No 'steps' . See this:

The turbine blades are actually loose, and the ends move almost 1/4" freely back and forth, so when the wind is turning the fans slowly (engine off), they rattle - clank-clank-clank- really loud!
