I had been meaning to comment on this thread. I think that the reason why we all admire this guy so much is that he embodies a certain type of "real man" who is super-competent and keeps his mouth shut about it. Sort of the opposite of too many modern sports stars whose egos and mouths are bigger than their skills or contribution to society.
