Hi Craig,
Sounds logical to me. While we were working on it, I asked my son to go to the garage and find a nail of similar diameter. He looked at me like I was a little nuts. So, I decided maybe I better ask someone before I attempted the extraction. I also didn't think it was wise to mess with the split arm since I've had my problems in the past with broken cast aluminum and didn't want a repeat of that.
