Your foot is like any other part of your body. You can get a joint out of place. I have a recurring discomfort along the top line of my right foot, localized pretty much right between the knuckle of my big and 2nd toe. Old quad riding injury.
Anyway, whenever it bothers me I just grab the foot work it to get the joints back in place.
Right foot in lap, place right hand so thumb is under arch going across bottom of foot, fingers going across/over top of foot. Left hand, thumb under ball of foot fingers going across knuckles of toes.
Gently but firmly push away with right hand, pull towards body with left and kind of work it a bit till everything drops back into place.
Basically chiropractic on the foot.
