Ha! You sound like my Dad. He swears by the small autos. Pretty sure he has a PPK among the dozens of mini's he has
everywhere. He'll be wearing the shorts/t-shirt come back in the house after taking the trash out, mowing the lawn, or some such. He might be looking for some change or something, and out comes the pistola on the counter with the quarters and dimes. You'de never know it. His point is that a big, uncomfortable gun sitting in the drawer isn't going to do you much good because it was too uncomfortable to wear all the time. This way, he's always covered. I can honestly say this theory has been put to the test and the would be assailant pretty near sh*yt himself when the old man's hand came out of the pocket - not empty. Good story. I love to hear it over and over.
He uses only ball ammo in small bore pistols.
