I think Oahu blows. Go Maui or Kauai or big island. Any of those are great. You are off season so rates shouldn't be bad.
For the California part are you driving or ? Vegas will be wicked hot that time of year. You're best off sticking to the coast or the mountains. Yosemite will be a zoo, I'd go with Kings Canyon instead. Be prepared for sticker shock though as that is prime vacation time in CA.
You can see/do most anything in CA. Just depends on what you like to do. Hike, sightsee, lounge on the beach, etc.
