You should certainly keep tabs on how you may be "presented" on FB or any other site!
Agreed that FB and LinkedIn are different types of sites, but to say that FB is just for friends is a limiting view, IMO. Folks are using it for all kinds of things. FB is not really anything but a potential network when you start.
I have a friend who manages about $500M and uses FB to keep in touch with his clients on a "human" level, not just all business. He claims it's added a new, positive dimension to his client relationships - very important in most businesses.
And, while I may know all of my FB friends, there are some I haven't had contact with in 20+ years. A lot has happened in that time and one really never knows where the connections may lead. And the odds that one of my old friends may know someone who may be interested in something I'm doing are good, in most cases.
